Liturgical Ministries

The Music Ministry seeks to create an environment conducive to worship by encouraging full participation through communal singing.  Cantors, choirs and a variety of musical instruments lead the parish community in singing both traditional and contemporary music.  Anyone who likes to sing is most welcome to participate as a member of the music ministry.  Contact Ruth Ehresman (7:30 and 10:00 am Sunday Masses) at 771-9036 or Gail Planer (4:30 pm Saturday Vigil Mass) at 771-8192.

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion help distribute Holy Communion at Mass and carry the Eucharist to the homebound or hospitalized.  Men and women over the age of 18 are commissioned by the Archdiocese to perform this service.  Contact Sr. Mary Henry at 772-1525, ext. 203.

The Worship Commission plans weekly and seasonal liturgical celebrations utilizing music, the visual arts and liturgical movement.  Meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:30, in the Rectory

Children's Liturgy of the Word.  Children ages 5-10 are invited to hear the Word in a manner specifically geared toward them.  The catechists use a variety of age-appropriate instructional materials and methods.  Contact Bridgett Wissinger at 773-8604.

The Art & Environment Committee is a work of the Worship Commission, and is concerned with enhancing and maintaining a beautiful worship space.  Areas of concern include projects, as well as tending to day-to-day, weekly, and seasonal elements of our church.  Meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month.  Contact Bridgett Wissinger at 773-8604.

Lectors are adults and teens who proclaim the Word of God at Liturgical celebrations.  They serve approximately once every six weeks at the weekend Masses and prepare beforehand with prayer and study of the Scriptures.  Contact Sr. Mary Henry at 772-1525, ext. 203.

The Altar Guild (sacristans) keep the church orderly and ready for worship, including tending to the candles and the altar linens.  Contact Sr. Mary Henry at 772-1525, ext. 203.

Ambassadors act as ushers and are responsible for taking up the collection at weekend Masses.  Ambassadors also welcome new parishioners and guests and greet and seat people at special celebrations.  Contact Sue Clavin at 664-1885.

Servers assist with all Masses.  Young people may begin this ministry in the fifth grade and continue throughout their years in high school.  Contact Fr. John Vien at 772-1525.
