On October 16, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI announced a special "Year of Faith." The observance will begin on October 11, 2012, the 50th anniversary of the opening of Vatican Council II. The close of the "Year of Faith" will coincide with the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King, on November 24, 2013. It is the intention of the Holy Father that this "Year of Faith" celebrated throughout the local churches will be a source of renewal for the People of God, moving each person closer to friendship with Christ "who gives us fullness of life."
St. Pius V Catholic Church will enter into this celebration in a number of ways. The Christian Formation Committee has already begun to plan our own "Year of Faith" and what we can do as individuals and as a community to deepen our faith so that we will be more fully committed to being authentic followers of Christ.
