A New Look at the Gospel Nativity Stories

The Christmas stories usually bring to mind warm, fuzzy images: shepherds and angels, Magi and a manger. But there is much more. Join us as we deeply examine Jesus’ infancy narratives in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke–how the two differ significantly in meaning and detail, how they subversively, even seditiously, challenge the authority of the mighty Roman Empire, and how they speak of God’s justice.

Handouts and readings will be provided.
